Power management system in short

The Power Management System is an intelligent system designed to handle both conventional marine power plants and complex dredging from low to high voltage systems. The I-CAS PMS will support to minimize the environment impact by an add-on advisory tool assisting owner and operators to efficiently manage the power plant in terms of emissions and fuel consumption. Furthermore, it can be seamlessly integrated with Energy Storage Systems (ESS) for even more effective reduction of the environmental footprint.

The PMS will comply all class related requirements and includes basic functions for a safe operation such as:

  • overload prevention   
  • load shedding  
  • black out recovery  
  • black out start essential consumers  
  • mode selection / detection   
  • prepared for ESS integration

Modularization 

The standardized modules for the functional requirements enable us to massively reduces required engineering effort for the I-CAS PMS. Besides the obvious positive impact on costs this allows for a delayed design freeze in Engineering-to-Order Processes in shipbuilding.  Ultimately is saves initial costs and commissioning time.  

Build on reliable technology 

The PMS is built on the strong fundamentals of proven and reliable PLC/SCADA technology. The system is built up in a centralised architecture and comprises standard of dedicated hardware and software for network, PLC/IO plus dedicated hardware and software for SCADA HMI viewer and server computers.   All PLC’s and SCADA computers are connected by an Ethernet bus, which is designed as a ring network.   

The PMS can be seamlessly integrated with redundant hardware and software of other I-CAS solutions. Providing a user-friendly touch screen user interface which can be highly integrated with other control systems like vessel management (VMS), Alarm monitoring (AMS) or the Dredge control system (DCS).  

A remote connection with the vessel opens up Remote servicing, maintenance and software upgrade possibilities
