Rockcote Iron Reduction Plant

IHC Robbins completed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) of Rockcotes new iron reduction project in June 2014. The plant is located at Yandina, Sunshine Coast and is designed for the production of high quality wet and dry render products.

The project objective was to remove magnetically susceptible materials from Rockcotes feed sands. This enabled them to procure silica sands from a variety of suppliers, then improve product quality and increase margin.

The project involved the addition of a new bucket elevator, two Eriez rare earth roll magnets and associated structures. Also involved, was the integration of the new equipment into the existing supervisory system.

Being a brownfield project, both IHC Robbins and Rockcote were mindful of the challenges associated with construction on an operating site and ensured impact to the existing operation was minimized.

The project was completed on time and within the budget and expected product throughputs were exceeded.
