Royal IHC is standardising some of its equipment through modularisation in order to meet customer requirements and maximise re-use. We are seeking an intern or graduate to develop dredging equipment modules in 3D.
The advantage of using modules to standardise equipment is that customers can choose from many end products and functionalities, while benefitting from short lead times and lower costs. There are many different end configurations possible, however there is a limited set of modules that can be configured.
The modules will be developed in 3D (and possibly 2D) using Solid Edge, so that IHC engineers can use this as reference for upcoming projects.
The student will be required to produce 3D and 2D files of the modules, and calculations of the modules, if necessary. In cooperation with an IHC product engineer, the module may be bounded or sharpened.
It is important to keep an eye on the interface between the modules when developing, and to standardise it in a smart way. The modules to be considered depend on the period during which the internship takes place.
To be eligible for this position, you must have the following:
- knowledge of 3D chracters, Solid Edge
- knowledge of modular product families/smart customisation is a pre-requisite
- excellent communication skills spoken and written in English
