As Product Engineer you will assist the Product Support department by developing, managing and commissioning IHC Systems software and hardware products. Our automation products include applications for our dredging equipment, simulators for these tools and applications for the offshore market. An affinity and experience with product management software is necessary for the configuration of our software products. In addition, the role requires that you actively participate in the identification and documentation of needs and specifications for both existing products and those under development. You will be involved in determining and defining the functional specifications for new products, but also in managing changes to the existing products. You’ll also set the acceptance criteria and will help to describe the test specifications. Documenting should therefore be your forte, and something that you understand the importance of. You will frequently work with colleagues from the Product Support department and specialists from the Engineering, Sales and Service departments. You will also be expected to pass on the product knowledge that you have acquired to end users and employees through training. When required (for example when commissioning, or solving complex problems on board our customers vessels) you will be expected to travel abroad.
To qualify for the position of Product Engineer, you will meet the following criteria:
- you have a customer-oriented attitude
- you have completed a technical higher vocational education (HBO) or an academic higher education (WO)
- you have excellent communication skills in English and Dutch
- you are analytical, with an affinity for documenting
- you have experience in setting up measurement and control systems
- you are willing and able to travel
- experience with requirements engineering is an advantage, as is an affinity with product management software.
