Reliable dredging equipment was needed to help widen and deepen the Madeira River. Royal IHC sent two standard IHC Beaver® cutter suction dredgers, the JATUARANA I and II, to Brazil.

Delivering high production capacities combined with environmental monitoring, keeping the maintenance low during operation and increasing the dredging knowledge of the crews.

AUTONOMOUS OPERATION

Autonomous operation of the dredgers is crucial. Additional options such as spud carrier and anchor booms enable the dredgemasters to move forward autonomously with the vessels

HIGH PRODUCTIVITY

A powerful dredger was needed to safely dredge on a stream current with waves. Time pressure in the dredging project played an equally important role. Customized IHC Beaver® dredgers were the solution.

INCREASING DREDGING KNOWLEDGE

After a three month training by Royal IHC the operators had all the knowledge they needed to operate the vessels safely and efficiently. 

LOW MAINTENANCE

Crews should spend their valuable time on their regular work, rather than on repairing the tools they use. Royal IHC provided durable equipment that delivers high production capacities while keeping the need for maintenance during operation low. Furthermore spare parts are quickly available when needed. 

MONITORING THE ENVIRONMENT

To ensure the wellbeing of local wildlife and to comply with the terms with regards to the environmental impact, underwater sensors analyze the river’s characteristics in real-time. These figures can be compared to measurements made before construction began.

VERSATILE EQUIpMENT

Because of the different soil types and the obstacles met during the operation, such as trees and roots, dismountable equipment such was used. The cutter head is easily exchangebale with the also delivered dredging wheel in order to deal with the surroundings.
