Royal IHC has completed the metallurgical test work for Nordic Mining ASA (“Nordic Mining”) definitive feasibility study (“DFS”) for the Engebø Rutile and Garnet Project. Royal IHC’s metallurgical test work has been essential in unlocking  Engebø as a world class resource with long-term industrial benefits and attractive financials.

Perfect partnership

IHC’s Australian based specialised business unit for the mineral sands and alluvial mining industry, IHC Robbins, in collaboration with HATCH and Nordic Mining, have developed a fit-for-purpose conventional process to produce garnet and rutile products from hard rock eclogite. IHC has been involved since 2017 and has completed multiple metallurgical test work programs ranging from the initial scoping test work in 2017 to the completion of the DFS confirmation test work in 2019. This is a great example of a project with perfect partnership where Royal IHC shares their competences and knowledge about global mining and mineral processing.

Julian Graham, IHC Senior Metallurgist, commented:

“The completion of test work has been an integral part of the project’s progression. Royal IHC continual involvement in test work from the scoping study phase through to the DFS phase has reinforced a strong understanding of the material’s process characteristics. Collaboration with HATCH Africa and Nordic Mining has resulted in a refined and optimised flowsheet around which the DFS has been completed. Royal IHC is proud to be involved in the Engebø Rutile and Garnet Project and looks forward to providing assistance during the next phase.”
