Filia Dredging was able to bring the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) BIESBOSCH back into reliable operation without the need for costly, extensive modifications. By focusing on the existing dredging installation and the proven technology already on board, IHC Equipment helped Filia Dredging make the most of its current asset while keeping the project within a practical and cost-conscious scope.
For Filia Dredging, one of the key benefits was access to the right technical knowledge at the right time. IHC Equipment’s service engineers inspected and adjusted critical dredging components, including the sliding piece and other essential parts of the installation. Through Royal IHC’s combined engineering expertise, technical documentation capabilities and in-depth knowledge of the vessel’s original design, Filia Dredging received the historical documentation, drawings and technical data needed to make well-informed decisions about the vessel.
This combination of hands-on service support and historical engineering insight enabled Filia Dredging to revitalise the BIESBOSCH within the predefined scope and budget. It helped reduce technical uncertainty, avoid unnecessary structural work and support a longer operational life for the vessel.
Helping Filia Dredging optimise without overinvesting
Throughout the project, Filia Dredging received practical technical guidance through telephone calls, consultations and several visits to the vessel. Together, we assessed whether a new dredge pump and additional dredging components would be the most cost-effective route to further optimise production capacity.
The outcome was clear: IHC Equipment’s inspections and analyses showed that the existing dredging installation was still in good condition and capable of delivering the desired performance. For Filia Dredging, this meant that a significant investment could be postponed, while confidence in the vessel’s operational capability was retained. Rather than recommending replacement by default, Royal IHC provided advice based on facts, experience and technical expertise.
