In the past years we have learned that to further improve the design of our pump-pipeline systems, we need to simulate many time depended processes in the pipeline. As such we are working on developing 1D-CFD Technology, in collaboration with the Delft University of Technology.

The main advantage of 1D-CFD is fast simulation times. Now, we can simulate a whole pipeline of many kilometers in several minutes using a laptop computer, pipelines for Dredging, (wet) Mining and Deep Sea Mining. The 1D-CFD model incorporates the following processes:

  • Sedimentation and pipeline blockages
  • Particle velocities, influenced by mixture density
  • Pipeline pressure
  • Pump-pipeline coupling
  • Self-amplifying density waves.
